Description
This painting was also edited for Digital Art annual book entry.A wife of a Finnish land slave. To her and her husband the sunset can bring but only temporality relief. Inspired by "Under the North Star" by Väinö Linna (the book is considered a classic in Finland with print runs into hundreds of thousands).
Personal piece, done as a critiqued work for my school.
For more background information and the making of, please see my WIP here:

Separate photo references used for the face (some of her features modified), body, hands, pendant and the background. Composition, theme and the colours are all out of my own head. My work process did not include tracing, manipulating or painting over photos.

I think the low contrast is not necessarily a 'flaw', it is, as I have noticed, a signature aspect of your style. Looking at your WIP thread, though, I would have stuck to your original higher contrast colours (but then again, it's just my personal preference). i really like how you gave that 'punch' of bright sunlight at the edge of her neck and shoulder. However, I would have cropped the top of the canvas by an inch or so, because there is not much going on there.
great stuff, though. +10! and keep on painting!
